Mark 6:31-44

May 10, 2026    David Baalbergen

Some weeks leave you exhausted. Bills pile up, relationships strain, responsibilities multiply, and the weight of life feels heavier than you can carry. In Mark 6:31-44, we find Jesus and His disciples just as weary — physically drained, emotionally burdened, and surrounded by crowds that would not stop coming. Yet when Jesus looks at the people, He is moved with deep compassion because they are “like sheep without a shepherd.”

This sermon walks verse by verse through the feeding of the five thousand and the beautiful truth behind it: Jesus is our compassionate Savior who gathers and provides for His Father’s sheep. More than a miracle about bread, this passage points us to Christ Himself — the true Bread of Life who would one day be broken so sinners could live.

If you are tired, empty, wandering, or searching for satisfaction in things that never last, this message is for you. There is no idol, achievement, relationship, or possession that can satisfy the hunger of the soul. Only Jesus can.
