Deacons

The Baptist Faith and Message recognizes two Scriptural offices in the Church. Last week we looked at the office of pastor/elder/overseer. Today, we look at the Scriptural and historical basis and function for the office of DEACON. Unlike the office of ELDER - which has roots in Jewish Culture - the office of DEACON is distinctly Christian, modeled after the SERVANT LEADERSHIP of Jesus Christ.
